Nitrate Testing Day
April 12 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pmFree
Help ensure a future of clean drinking water in the Teton River Watershed. If you live outside city limits, you are responsible for the testing and maintenance of your well to ensure that your water is safe to drink!
Nitrate is one of the most common groundwater contaminates found in rural areas. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare recommends that all Idaho private well owners test for nitrates annually. High nitrate levels in drinking water can present a risk to human and animal health. Elevated nitrate levels in well water can be caused by leaking septic systems, animal waste, and personal or commercial fertilizer use.
Come to the Teton High School on April 12th to have your well water tested for nitrates by the THS 9th grade physical science class. Bring a well water sample (from your faucet) in a clean glass jar to be evaluated. Testing is free and results are confidential.
