The Community Foundation of Teton Valley hosts an annual workshop series to foster organizational excellence among our local nonprofit organizations. Organizational excellence workshops are offered at a low cost to participants and are open to staff and board members of Teton Valley nonprofit organizations. Why is Board Development important to the success of nonprofits? Let me share a little secret. Boards are the driving force in the planning of the future for nonprofits, are responsible for driving the mission and vision of the organization, and, need to hold themselves accountable for their performance. Oh, and by the way, boards OWN the organization and are responsible for its well being as provided in all by-laws approved by the United States Treasury Department.
Without a strong board of directors, the executive director and staff are expected to not only to have the vision for what the organization can become but also to do all of the work. Join Kari Anderson, Principal with Incite! Consulting Group. We’ll map out crucial board development priorities, including:
- Recruiting board members
- Holding elections
- Ongoing support and recognition
- Board orientation and training
- Succession planning

You’re just off Tin Cup 2018 and have finally been able to enjoy a bit of summer in the Teton Valley. And, there’s a little voice in the back of your head that keeps saying, “Hey! I should be doing things a little differently to thank our donors.” You’re right! And – spoiler alert – donor retention goes WAY beyond the fundraising appeal. During this session with Kari Anderson, Principal at Incite! Consulting Group, you’ll start seeing a donor’s gift as a step in a relationship, not a one-off business transaction. And, you’ll build a structure that allows to build and retain great relationships with your current donors, as well as increasing your fundraising dollars.

Creating Your Fund Development Plan
Presented by Kari Anderson
Friday, September 28 • 9am – 12:30pm
Many non-profits, particularly small organizations and start-ups, operate without a fundraising plan. When someone has an idea for an event or appeal, you go for it. When the bank account seems to be low, you often go into “panic mode” and race around trying to find cash to keep the doors open. Sound familiar? Would you like to avoid continued “reactive fundraising” and potential financial ruin?
Spend the morning with Kari Anderson, Principal at Incite! Consulting Group and get started on your 2018-2019 fund development plan. No matter how small you are, or how far along you are into your operations, you need a comprehensive, well-written fundraising plan. A written plan allows you to focus your efforts, plan out your yearly fundraising calendar, and give you guidance on strategy and tactics when you are in the thick of events, mailings, and calls. In short, your fundraising plan will keep you sane in the insane day-to-day world of the development office.
$20/participant • light refreshments provided • space is limited to 20 participants • send your RSVP to [email protected] by Tuesday, September 25th at 5pm.
